@MalakinThere is a reply link for a reason. Please proofread your comments --> "then his crappy program". And a quick google for perfmon is all you need to find out what it is. You're not better than the rest of us.
@oblivinated SuicideInvoice didn't have a reply button under his name when I made the comment, Digg isn't perfect. Do you really think that most people would cogitate "hey, I don't quite understand this so I should Google it before modding this person down"?
We aren't saying Cacti isn't a good monitoring program. I've never used it, but it looks very powerful. If you need all those features, knock yourself out with the install process. Not that it looks all that complicated, but there are 8 software dependencies for Cacti where as perfmon is built into NT/2K/XP. It looks more like a guide to installing software on Linux than on Windows. The title sugested it would look at ways to monitor computers remotely, yet it was basically just an advertisement for Cacti. If it was objective, it would have included perfmon and whatever else is out there. It's sorta like writing an article about remote desktop and going into great length about VNC, yet not mentioning MSTSC.
@twinklyjesusUh, no. The greatest benefit is seen from 512MB to 1GB, yes, and benefits are seen as memory is increased above that. It's just that you have diminishing returns after 1GB.
