I use digg as one of my main news sources- not just for tech news. In the event you haven't been following Digg (the company) that is EXACTLY what they are striving for. While I will certainly agree the content was (on average) of a higher caliber, there are now more visitors and a wider range of topics. This directly translates to more revenue for Digg (the company), and for as much as you may be pissed about this fact- they are a company looking to turn a profit.I enjoyed Digg as it was, and I appreciate Digg as it is. Now, if only I could make my generic feed be only my filtered categories...
I'm tired of this "I wish it was all technology again".Sure, Digg.com started out as a tech website, but it's changed and evolved. It's expanded to politics and other news. This is the very essence of the internet. People who are part of this community should respect change, regardless if they agree with it or not, because without it, we're all just conservatives. Dirty stinking Republican Conservatives with no heart and soul. If someone didn't come along to begin with and say "Why don't I make a website where people submit technology stories instead of just me?" Digg would have never happened. So if it doesn't agree with you and really makes you sick to click the technology tab, then just don't bother with it. But don't complain about the obvious natural progression of something. If Digg fails from this, then at least we'll have a full scope of what went wrong for next time.
If you recall, the comment system didn't even allow replies back then. Conversations were nearly impossible and never went anywhere. Because of that the comments ended up being just silly remarks about the article. The comment quality has improved simply because we can have conversations now. We still get plenty of silly comments, but now we get some insightful comments and some interesting debates as well.

He means "the quality of the comments has dropped down to my level dramatically since the early days of digg."
