I've confirmed this works on the Shuffle as well. The problem is that you can't see the diagnostics and you have to guess what the results are; presumably they are randomized.
It isn't. Some idiot thought that it was, and made a digg. This person apparently did not know that they were so stupid, and that any person on digg who has an iPod has probably seen this.
There is a diagnostic mode on all shuffles, it consists of the user observing the effects of pressing any button, or moving any slider. From there, just diagnose what has just happened. Have fun with your new iP0d h4xx.

I don't own an ipod, is there a way (using this or another method) to buy an older unit, say a 20G and upgrade the harddrive to a larger size?
