CGI has ruined Cinemas, now there are too many remakes of comics or old action movies.Good story lines and great dialogues have been passed over for CGI and easy cash.
I still think Jurassic Park has done the best so far with CGI. The part where the T-Rex comes out of its pen and walks through the car's headlights looks amazing 16 years later (f**k I'm old, I saw that in theaters). The dinosaurs were originally going to be "go motion" or stop-motion animation. Here's an early animatic mockup test of the raptors in the kitchen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UID63Bzi80A&fea ...Phil Tippett was a master of his craft. There's even a motion blur when the raptor charges at 2:07.
"I respect your opinion, but please elaborate."A lot of movies just aren't possible without it. Take Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, Transformers, etc.LotR just wouldn't be the same if the armies were reduced to a couple dozen guys in costumes that looked like they were out of the power rangers.

I prefer the fake painted backdrops used in the old B/W scifi classics to most cgi used today. It's more imaginative.

Yes, CGI "transformed" the movies the way bacteria "transform" a corpse.

Totally agree. The physics in CGI action sceens are usually way off reality. Just because you can render something does not make it true.
