guardian.co.uk— Oxford professor of international relations Avi Shlaim served in the Israeli army and has never questioned the state's legitimacy. But its merciless assault on Gaza has led him to devastating conclusions

Warsaw ghetto/ Gaza, the way succeeding Israeli governments have treated the Palestinians is uncannily similar to the way they themselves were treated by the Nazis: the building of the wall, the demolition of homes, the seizing of land and the denial of the most basic human rights.
thousands of years ago, Wednesday in fact in the lunar calendar, Moses asked Pharoah to "let my people go."now the people that claim to be his inheritors demonstrate how far they have fallen from his virtuous tree. the state of Israel and its leaders are arrogant in their brutality, unleashing their violence against the weakest persons, letting up only when they are truly afraid of being sanctioned. and then, like Pharoah, returning to their worst behavior the moment scrutiny pauses.may God destroy the evil men and women who lead Israel, and the army that backs them up, as completely as He swept away Pharoah and his army that gave chase to Moses and the more-virtuous descendants of Jacob.
It is a stunning realization when one comes to accept that a people whose history includes gas furnaces, concentration camps, mass murders and other unimaginable atrocities directed toward them are now perpetrating the same brutal and inhumane war crimes against another group of people.
as a palestinian, all i have to say is that this article more or less sums up my views on the whole conflict in a much clearer way than i ever could. hopefully this will make it to the front page so that more people will have a chance to read an article that's different from all the crap that american and israeli media put out. tons of people are going to be in for a shock when they realize that maybe the reality is different from what they've been hearing all along if this article actually gets a lot of publicity.
