my take:the money - went to something that will benefit the whole world for the foreseeable future, how is having one less terrorist state and one more wealth-creating market economy a bad thing? the budget - remember the "damn bush economy"? well somehow, in spite of all this war spending, the tax cut, 9-11, enron, lowest poll numbers ever, the internet bubble bursting, this is the strongest the economy there has ever been in just about every category, i think bush knows what he is doing and can handle the budget, money spent on this war is creating a better future for the world, money spent on health care and social security just creates abuse of those systems and economic waste.the lives - more Americans get killed in Detroit every year then Iraq (exaggeration? maybe, try doing some research)and the majority of the people dieing in Iraq are terrorists that the world needs to be rid of, and not office workers in America. also there are far less people dieing there now then before we got there. yeah thats right, contrary to popular belief, Iraq wasn't a happy little utopia before we got there, i think nearly a million Iraqi civilians were killed under Saddam's rule. bitching and moaning never solves problemsnothing worth doing is ever easyyou may not like it now, but history will tell the true tale of how the seed of democracy, freedom and progress was planted in the middle east, with Bush's victory in Iraq (unless the Dem's get their way and turn it into another Vietnam)
@digitalomniverse:So, what is it that we've gained in return for the $1 trillion dollars and the lives that we've lost. Are we safer? No, we are no safer for having invaded Iraq. Did we get the WMDs? No, there weren't any, just like the weapons inspector said. We removed Saddam, destabilizing the region, killing Americans, killing Iraqis, and somehow your view is so narrow that you are able to perceive that as being a win? I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that you're trolling, because you can't be that stupid... wait a minute, Mr. President, is that you?Wasting a bunch of money that could've been given back to the people as a tax break and killing a bunch of soldiers? Sounds like a win to me!
I wasn't comparing the situation you f**kwit, I was comparing terrorist acts in the UK and terrorist acts in the US, where there is of course a similarity.and the notion that people in the UK are pissed about American independence is a joke, Britain has had alot of colonies you are but 1, you fought for independence and won, good for you, we also gave up 90% of all our coloies through diplomatic means. the film the Patriot did very well over here so did Braveheart. Canada got independence peacefully, India got independence peacefully, Australia got independence peacefully, and Scotland have their own government..... peacefully. i think you're only point is that America would rather resort to violence than diplomacy.

Are we safer? As far as a terrorist threat goes, you can not prove that we aren't, and of course it can't be proven that we are. I'm sure your lifestyle is safer, as Iraq will be trading in petrodollars again. You are contending that we've lost this war because we've spent money, which is silly considering how fiat currency works. Here is a question for you, did your taxes go up to support this war? No, if anything since Bush has been in office, taxes have gone down. So what exactly was lost? Did soldiers die? Yes. Did we accomplish the military objectives that usually indicate a victory in war? Of course.Had Bush not invaded, and Iraq continued buying oil with euro's, followed by Iran, and the rest of the middle east, and the value of the dollar fell through the basement, would you be 'safer'?
I'd hate to break it to you, but most of those people can't run down to their local pharmacy to get antibiotics, and given the conditions where they live (ie, lack of clean drinking water) their conditions would reoccur.
