FN sheep.....pay attention at the isreali targets.....kinda sound like a tyrant we all heard of....read sheep.A lthough fingers are being raised on the existence & pressure of United Nations Organisation yet after the American attack on Iraq, the entire world has almost agreed that at present the United Nations Organisation has lost its power of being called an impressive world authority. In reality today it has become, "The might is right". The decisions taken in United Nations Organisation are mostly taken keeping in view, the motives of America. If in some decision, the motives of America are not in favour of America, in such situations; America uses its veto power. In spite of it, if United Nations Organisation doesn't keep in view the American motives, then America doesn't hesitate to ignore it. Obviously, America that calls itself the most pro-democratic & the greatest guardian of human rights & most disciplined country & the most powerful country, if found to ignore the United Nations Organisation & doesn't give required importance to it, then it is not unordinary that a country such as Israel, that is backed by America may flout the directions of United Nations Organisation.A living example of it can be seen in the present Israel-Lebanon conflict. Probably, in the world nobody has witnessed that a country has attacked the other country & destroyed it just for the sake of release of its one or two soldiers. But Israel did it. Firstly, just to get released its one soldier, Israel army, fighting against the Palestine guerrillas & doing a great loss of lives & property & on the pretext of getting released its other two soldiers from Hezbullah guerrillas based in Lebanon, attacked Lebanon. Just on the pretext of getting released its other two soldiers from Hezbollah, the news is that about one thousand persons have been killed during Israel attacks & most of them are children & women. It is the biggest military action of Israel against Lebanon since 1982.It is known that Israel had vacated this region, after 18 years, under the heavy pressure of Hezbullah. That is why, the people of this region are grateful to Hezbullah for their liberation from Israel. This is also the reason for Hezbullah's popularity in this region. But Israel says that Hezbullah is a terrorist organization. Right in the same way as after the liberation of Palestine from Israel by Hamas, Hamas won with great majority in the general election in Palestine. But Israel thinks that rule of Palestine has gone in the hands of terrorists in the form of Hamas. In 2000, when Israel left South Lebanon, Israel threatened that it wouldn't bear any provoking action in future. Clearly, the kidnapping of two Israel soldiers by Hezbullah gave Israel, the pretext for military action against Lebanon. Now Israel is hoping for two aspects. One is that Lebanese people must feel that the responsibility of loss of lives & property falls upon Hezbullah & that this feeling among Lebanese people will produce hatred in them for Hezbullah & thus take them away from him. Second aspect of Israel is United Nations Security Council should implement its resolution 1559. In this resolution 1559, it was decided that Hezbullah should be disarmed & Hezbullah must yield completely. The proposal of Security Council was also favoured by America. It also wants that Hezbullah should surrender his arms. But Israel & America are adopting double standards here. Since 1967, Israel has illegally & forcibly occupied a great water source named Sheeba Farm in Lebanon. America has also done his duty of asking Israel to vacate this region. But all this has fallen flat on Israel. On the other hand, Israel talks about resolution 1559 & in reality not only Hezbullah, all the armed organization in the world should surrender their arms. But for it, the law must be equal for all. Israel, itself doesn't want to act upon resolution 242 & 338 of United Nations Security Council in which Security Council explained that all the Arab regions that came under Jew rule should be vacated & they should go to political boundaries that were in force before 1967 war. But Israel didn't act upon these resolutions yet.Under the fresh circumstances of Israel-Lebanon conflict, America puppet named Israel has once again flouted the existence of United Nations Organisation. Amid great destruction in Lebanon, United Nations Organisation had appealed to Israel for 72 hours truce which was rejected by Israel. In the course of this truce, United Nations Organisation didn't want to indulge in any discussion, but it wanted that during this truce period, the aged men, wounded children & other injured may be brought out of the war affected areas & they may be given needed help. But Israel didn't need this appeal. Not only this, Israeli soldiers attacked a watch camp of United Nations Organisation & four peace keeping soldiers were killed. If we listen to the general secretary of United Nations Organisation, Kofi Annan, Israel knowingly aimed at the camp of observers. It is being said so because Israel cannons had already made 14 times severe attacks on this observer's camp. After that, this air attack was done. Protesting against this attack United Nations clarified to Israel that when its relief team went to clear the ruins, Israeli soldiers aimed at them also. Now the question arises, if the only new formed Jew nation can dare to constantly ignore the directions of United Nations Organisation. Not only had this, its soldiers, in guise, aimed at the observer's camp of United Nations Organisation. Now it seems that United Nations Organisation is becoming helpless. Power is dominating everywhere. So it is meaningless to talk about human rights. Now the solution of such impasse comes in the form of unity of the Arab world or in the form of the other effective world authority- all is in rerum natura.
The UN .. please. Name one conflict that the UN did not only perpetuate, but endorsed by way of financial 'donations' via the detractors since 1963 (Egyptian - Suez Canal conflict).
@nofxjunkee - The "real" news as opposed to any 'news' that is reported elsewhere. Those statements imply that our news sources all lie and everyone else (who is equally motivated to use propoganda to support their agenda) would not. The logic in that line of thinking escapes me. Having been priviledged enough to travel around the world and enjoy the splendor and beauty of other nations and culture (including their television and news sources), I can tell you that news in other countries is censored and/or mis-respresented more often then it is not.I can no more hold the current residents of Israel for the 'occupation' of Palestine then the decendants of slaves can hold the family of previous slave owners accountable. As I have stated before, if you live in the United States then you need to drop the whole 'occupation' arguement. By that line of reasoning, if your not a native American then you should pack up your possessions, demolish your house, restore the land to its 'original' condition and give your land back to the native Americans. As idealogical as that would be, it would not solve the basis of conflict in the Middle East. I have been to Israel, and I have been fortunate enough to have visited Lebanon in the last couple of years. Both are democratics in nature, both have diverse religous and cultural communities. Honestly, Lebanon is a truly beautiful country, much like Bahrain. What is going on in this particular conflict is that Israel is trying to stop the insurgant Islamic radicals that formed as a direct result of previous conflict in 1982. In short, Hezbollah is a political party with terrorist ties and some intent malice (by some if not most of its members) that evolved from a organization based on vengence. I personally agree with Israel. They no longer rely on the US for military support, they no longer rely on the UN for diplomatic support and are determined to defend its borders at any cost. I also agree with the majority of Lebanese who do not, nor did not want the likes of Hezbollah starting border scrimmages with Israel. Sadly, it was not until this week that the Lebanese government even offered assistance in, by their own admission - the removal of terrorist-in-nature cells in souther Lebanon. Your comments lead me to believe that you condone the use of violence to avenge the actions of people of a previous generation, who most of whom have long since died (in reference to the people who originally 'occupied' Israel). What really irratates me is that whether you chose to believe it or not, Israel has (at least in the past) made a concious effort to avoid civilian casualties at least at an administrative level (there have been rumors that some military personel have acted on emotion and taken civilian life intentionaly), while Hezbollah - instead of targeting military locale or using their weopons (as designed to be used by Iran) as strategic short-range anti-armor weapons - are launching these highly inaccurate missles into civilian areas with very little or no military presence (by military I am including law enforcement). If you have free time and are interested I highly recommend you read the doctrine of Hezbollah and/or spend some time on YouTube and look at the movies people from the region are putting up. Watch the 'official' Hezbollah broadcast concerning the 'justification' of their actions (assualt/kidnapping). If you still believe that they have any intention of just 're-claiming' their homeland (which it is not - it is their 'Holy Land' - Hezbollah was born and breed in Lebanon NOT former Palestine). I also encourage you to read newspapers from 1983 from the region and understand why Lebanon started the conflicts with Israel in the late 70s and early 80s. There is nothing refering to the Palestinian homeland - but there is a good deal of resentment of the U.S. fortifying Israel claiming that Israel was expansionist in intent (a claim that has never come to pass - in fact Israel is smaller NOW then it was in 1948).Ironically, Lebanese people are empathetic to Israel as the majority of them do not condone the recent actions of Hezbollah. Unfortunatly, they are 'trapped' in a sense since they are experiencing collateral damage to their homes for actions they were no part of. The end result, more of the same. More then one mother/father on foriegn broadcasts has proclaimed that they will raise their son to hate Israel and return to avenge them (coincedently - the generation of 25-35 there now were to be raised to hate the US and avenge the bombings we did to them in the mid-80s for attacks against US war-planes). So the cycle continues.
@CyberBeast - yes 3000. Arab lies? That timeline is taken from the begining of written history, and while I certainly understand the victors get to write the history books. Many Westerners, especially Americans, are unaware that the main reason Arabs opposed the partition of Palestine into Jewish and Arabs states according to the UN resolution of 1947-48 was that "Israel" was to be given 52 % of the land and the Arab state 48 %, whereas legal ownership of the land was only 6% Jewish.------quote-------Land holding patterns had also changed considerably. From the 650,000 dunums held by Jewish organizations in 1920, of the total land area of 26 million dunums, the figure at the end of 1946 had reached 1,625,000 dunums - an increase of about 250 per cent and Jewish settlement had displaced large numbers of Palestinian Arab peasants. Even so, this area represented only 6.2 per cent of the total area of Palestine and 12 per cent of the cultivable land.-------end quote from UN History on the Question of Palestine ---------http://domino.un.org/UNISPAL.NSF/561c6ee353d740fb8525607d00581829/aeac80e740c782e4852561150071fdb0!OpenDocument
