glockman69, I decided to throw out my sarcasm detector after dealing with McCain/Palin supporters all year. Opiate, we do need to have controls in place to protect the planet. Especially as it relates to our oceans. There needs to be penalties in place for doing things that would harm them. If there was no regulation on fishing the fishing industry would rape the ocean bare of all life as one example. You can look at other places of the world where regulations are not in place and you can see how humanity treats the world they live in.There are greedy Humans who will not hesitate to sink to any sort of low in order to make a buck. The ocean is out of sight and out of mind for most of humanity. News of good things is a sign that the education and proactive measures to save our oceans is working and that it should continue.

The ocean covers 71 percent of the Earth's surface and contains 97 percent of the planet's water; yet it receives a fraction of the scientists devoted to biology research / the funds devoted to environmental defense.
