crunchgear.com — Will the vast majority of TV viewers will have a 3D TV in their home? Maybe. But it's more likely that there will be no compelling reason to upgrade your entire TV set-up to watch 3D movies. Why will you buy a 3D set-up? You’ll probably buy a 3D-capable PC for gaming before you buy a 3D-capable TV.

3D Gaming? Thanks but I just spent a butt load of cash on a new LCD TV and I won't need another one for 10 to 20 years at the least.I'll pass.

I'm still pissed that TV manufacturers went with "active" 3D instead of "passive" 3D (think Avatar). Now we all have to buy expensive peripheral glasses made only to sync with that one brand of TV. Your friend has a Sony 3DTV and you have a Panasonic? Better hope they have enough glasses for everyone in the room, because you won't be able to bring your glasses to watch on that Panasonic.Besides - do any of the current gen consoles have the power to send a 240 hz picture to a 3DTV?

"Ah, finally something on which I can something that may make sense - I hope! "... almost :)You are quite right about the focussing thing, however I think it's something that can be *learned*. I no longer get sick playing FPS games (Mirror's Edge notwithstanding); I can be aware of what's in my rear view mirror without shifting my focus to it; I can rub my belly and pat my head at the same time. Maintaining focus on the screen as stuff pops out will just be another knack, I think.

Don't worry. I'm sure your back light will burn out way before 10 years.

How does this work? Afaik current solutions can only have different pictures for each eye but they cannot move the focus plane away from the screen. That does not matter in cinema because for focusing the real screen and the virtual 3d object are both "far away", far enough that focus errors do not make much of a difference. But if a monitor is just across the table, any deviation of the virtual object from the screen plane will make a big difference. How do they solve this?

If gaming is really made better by 3D, and he says our computers are already compatible, then why isn't everyone already raving about it? Wouldn't every thread about BC2 have someone saying how great it is playing in 3D?

I won't be getting it since my eyes can't 3D effects in movies, TV shows, videos, games, etc. :(

I don't understand how FPS games will work when you have to notice very few pixels change color in the background... maybe for other kinds of games though...
