I've had either my network connection, or router, drop while I was on a trip a couple times. Enough that I'm not willing to depend on it. Then again, I wouldn't be willing to depend on dropbox either.
BEWARE.. you are "syncing" your files over http without any encryption. Watch, start syncronizing and open tcpdump, you can see all your information floating across and going right over the internets... Redigg when I see some SSL being used, until then, I don't think soo..
Actually due to the fact that the dropbox staff has been very responsive and close to the community and have been improving their product in a very customer-related manner makes it very understandable that quite a lot of Dropbox users are close to euphoric about the service. This results in a really lively and nice community.Thing is that dropbox really solves quite a lot of the hardships of collaboration in small groups / easy backup option / syncing devices. Though it's probably no service everybody would find useful it's definitely a very useful one for professional users that don't want to setup sth. like jungledisk / who want more features than the usual webdav. That said there are of course some similar services out there.
