Religion is not a US thing. Think of how many other states (and by state I mean countries) have a dominant religious culture... Latin America, the Middle East, Spain, Italy, Greece, India, China, etc.
What does that have to do with the price of tea in china? Doesn't matter if he was smart or not: he's the foundation of Christianity. When "Christians" take the whole of the old testament literally, they aren't real Christians, imo. It's sad that the word "Jesus" produces a similar Pavlovian response as the word "Evolution". Jesus was one of the few people in that book that wasn't an ass, in one way or another, and yet his vary name evokes negative responses from people. I certainly understand why that is, and I'm guilty of that sort of reaction sometimes too. But that doesn't make it right. One should think about what's being said, before criticizing the individual words used to say it.
great reply.may I have your e-mail (you know common idea)when people talk about evolution they come to the idea that god doesn't exist so they disagree. same thing happened with darwin who lost his faith in god because of bible said man came out of mud.
evolution doesn't have anything to do with gods existence. Religion tooA bunch of power hungry people many century's ago abused the name of God to claim Power on a time where many people feared god. so its a primitive politic (religion). but a great one. it keeps idiots calm. people disagree with evolution because the bible says people came from mud. and that the bible was written by god, so they think it "disproves" gods existence. or like Darwin who lost faith in god because of the bible said man comes from mud. I don't care about religion or any belief (like the ending of the evolution south park episode where the people become without ism (for example atheISM or catoliciSM or islamicISM).
Yeah, I agree; it was a bit patronizing of him, if I'm using that word correctly which I think I'm not, to say "if we can't find it, evolution is wrong." Perhaps he meant to say "the theory that stems from evolution that we share ea common ancestor with apes is wrong." Eh, it was a bit of overstatement for dramatic effect, I won't hold it against him.
Actually dude you're mistaken. Most people believe the church dispersed Galileo's findings as heretical, but actually the church was very curious about the telescope, as neither they nor Galileo had any idea how they worked. Even when Galileo showed the Pope his satan-like drawing of how he viewed Saturn the church still wanted to know more. They were confused as to how what was observed through this magic trick was possible according to Aristotilian order. I'm an atheist and I despise christianity but fighting the good fight with the aid of fallacy is wrong.
