"Sometimes one does not see the forest before loud trees also turned around or…: -)"this translation is hilarious. don't bend ur clip. ;) i just got a yp-t8 for $70 canadian, shuffles r for suckaz. ;)
This is the one feature of the 1G Shuffle that I liked the most - the fact that it needed no dock or cables. I wish they would expand on that concept instead of just replacing it.
I do find it odd that they decided to throw out the idea of a built in USB. I always loved how easy it was to charge it, such as at school or at a friend's, with no need for a dock. Although I do think the 2mm/usb adapter was a very good idea that will be purchased quite a bit. Maybe Apple is just trying to make it as small as humanly possible.
I just made one... unfortunately I haven't received my ipod shuffle yet. I made mine around 15cm long as I figured if I had to use a tiny one at the back of some clutter-cabled computer it might get annoying. I bought it for 3aus dollars. 4-connection 3.5mm jack, and after figuring out that my old usb cables colours were all the wrong colours and colour coding them all correctly, I soldered on the connections. It is definitely not a hard job, and any old soldering iron would do, even though a fine tip would have helped me not burn so much plastic around my connections. The multimeter seems to think that the cabling was fine, but the big test will be on the ipod shuffle... when I get it. ..A worthwhile hack.

Accord to this Engadget post:<a class="user" href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/11/04/thought-out-key-gives-classic-usb-action-to-your-2g-ipod-shuffle/comments/2599807/">http://www.engadget.com/2006/11/04/thought-out-key-gives-classic-usb-action-to-your-2g-ipod-shuffle/comments/2599807/</a>This great 2mm jack/usb adapter:<a class="user" href="http://store.mobibluamerica.com/damija.html">http://store.mobibluamerica.com/damija.html</a>should work with the Shuffle 2G. I already placed my order!

I've found additional useful information on Apple iPod jack here: <a class="user" href="http://www.allpinouts.org/index.php/Apple_iPod_jack">http://www.allpinouts.org/index.php/Apple_iPod_jac ...</a>
