He was commenting on how difficult it was to open/remove the wires from the original speakers due to the seal. He never says that being totally sealed is a BAD thing (In fact it helps "absorb all the sound"), just that it was difficult to open up the sealed speakers in the first place.

Or you can use screws and then put some silicone on top of them.
