slashfilm.com — Someone thought it would be a good idea to model their home theater after the Enterprise NCC-1701D from Star Trek: The Next Generation. The result is super geeky, but actually rather cool. The system also features “one of the largest Kaleidescape hard-drive based storage systems” ever created, amassing eight servers with 3,816 DVDs.

So what? As long as he's seeding those dvd torrents - all be forgiven.

That is awesome, but seriously he needs a bigger screen.

You're on Digg, and you don't watch star trek? WTF is wrong with you?

Soft focus and long exposure combined with small resolution images. They look fine to me.

It's a pretty cool installation but I'd prefer to not have to rip out a wall to put in a bigger tv.

Okay, I give. The bigger pics in the gallery from the original article http://www.electronichouse.com/slideshow/category/ ... are clearly not CG. I was tricked by those low-res pics and the fact that the TV picture is simulated. So, yes, these ARE photomanip-ed, I just don't know to what extent. Also, the company website of the people who did it http://www.acousticinnovations.com/ has a lot of renders of their projects, and some of them look pretty real.

Buried for submitter being an idiot who didn't even read the article. It might be modeled after TNG but not after the bridge.Otherwise very nice work.

Nice job in designing and building , I suspect it was the largest TV and have used a projector, but replacing the lamps in those is also very expensive http://www.projector-reviews.net/
