holophonic.ch— You've heard the Diggnation demo of surround sound through regular headphones. Just wait until you hear true three-dimensional sound that even lets you hear above and below you!

a lot of ppl saying this is old - from the 70s. Just occured to me: if his has been around for over 30 years, why the hell hasn't it been used in games/movies/TV/music etc?!?!?!??!
If you close your eyes to listen to it, and you hear the guy breathing, it's impossible NOT to open your eyes and check quickly if someone is there. :D
Hate to say this mate - this IS holophonic soundIt uses a technique that takes advantage of the fact the ear actually emits sound. The interference pattern from this sound wave and the sound waves around us are what makes us hear, and helps us to detect direction. Therefore holophonic sound is NOT binaural - although the recording set up is similar, what is unique is that when recording, a sound that is not perceptible to the human ear is played and the interference pattern recorded. This is why it seems so real, and the direction element has ups and downs even though it is only played through stereo
"There is an even better demo on alt.binaries.paranormal. has footsteps ,saxophone, and a fly buzzing about.Look for "virtual audio"."A friend showed me this on his iPod but I have been unable to download this file!!! If anyone could email it to jose_0_luis@hotmail.com or just give me another link...THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!!
I remember years ago going to a Star Trek Movie (Generations or First Contact), a company was testing a light headband type speaker headset with small speakers that set just outside the ear. They had a sound demo right before the movie started, which consisted of scissors cutting hair and a bee flying around your head. Quite a few people came in late and missed the pre-show explanation had no idea what to expected?. funny as hell seeing people jump up thinking the person behind them was cutting their hair or that the theatre was full of bees.I really wish this was in theatres now... I might actually go.

this one is a little different. they are not using normal microphones to record it. it is a microphone with a chystal element.
