hitchsters.com— Hitchsters.com is a new service that lets you sign up to share a cab to go to/from the airport in the NYC area. It just launched November 11, and you can use it for your upcoming thanksgiving travels.

so basically...1.get info and finally arrive at jfk...2.wait about 15 to 20 minutes trying to find each other....3. be even more late than you should have been just to save about 20 bucks.
I don't understand, "share" a cab? You mean it's not already possibly for more than one person to get from JFK to Manhattan in the same cab? Or am I missing something?
uhh... I know Ft Lauderdale Internation Airport in Florida has had this for several years. They call it "Share Ride."Basically, when you get off your plane, go where all the taxi's are. There are little stands throughout the walkway. Go up to one and tell them where you are going. They'll ask you to sit and wait for a little bit (less than 30 mins). Next thing you know it, you're sharing a cab ride with someone going in your direction. MUCH cheaper this way. I know going from Ft Lauderdale to Deerfield Beach, via Share Ride, is 16 bucks. A regular taxi costs > $35.
Of course you can, but you're not going to wade through the taxi line asking if anyone's going to Broadway in the 80's and do they want to share a cab there. Maybe this could be done in some other cities, but in NYC, people will look at you like you're on drugs! At least this provides something for people who actually don't mind the idea to set something up with minimal work.My only thought is that after a long trip where you've been pinned next to some guy who wants to talk your ear off, do you really want to spend another 30-60 minutes pinned next to someone in an even smaller compartment with no alcohol or bathroom to escape to?

I mean, if I have a friend with me (not a stranger), I can go with him/her in the same regular NYC yellow cabs already available?
