gas2.org— Super-smart high school kid built a fully electric vehicle capable of traveling 40 miles - on just $10,000. He just put a bunch of car companies that spend billions of dollars to shame.

@charlie55: Not so great in Alaska in the winter, but I'm still with you! Having said that, I've got a friend who drove a motorcycle up here all summer who told me that his bike didn't save him any gas...it was so much fun, he always took the "scenic route" everywhere :)
Cost benifit. If he drives 200 miles a week (say 40 miles 5 days a week) thats $2080 in fuel savings a year. The "electrification" of the car is FREE in just over 2 years if fuel does NOT go up in price again.I would say thats a pretty god damned good ROI.Assuming he takes care of those batteries properly.
lets se $5700 for the conversion NOT $10k200 miles a week $2080 in gas a year OH just over 2 years the conversion is free. How often do you see ROI's that short?
@jdmzpf:lol wow racist and ignorant in such a small post thats impressive jd.@Nery: I thought Who Killed the Electric Car was popular enough to survive the couple years to get to our current crisis. People need to watch that movie.
REALLY???? what do you dolts expect him to do after high school? get in bed with ebay to snatch up all remaining '77-'79 Bradley vehicles, just to give Tesla a run for the money?!?!?!? fuggin IDIOTS! this article is showcasing the ingenuity and initiative of a HS student not the business model of the next big auto manufactureragain, FUGGIN IDIOTS!!!!!
