"You don't see the sweep of an electron beam on a phosphor screen because there's a decay time. Not so with a laser on a regular surface;"You seem like an intelligent guy, but you are wrong about this. The decay speed of phosphor is very high, especially compared to LCD's.We see a whole image because of persistence of vision, and that happens in the retina. If you filmed a CRT TV with a very high speed film camera, you'd be able to see the scanning beam as a single point on the screen.

Think of how this will improve the movie theater experience with laser projections!
