Think you might of jumped the gun there a bit. An email doesn't need to be classified to warrant encryption. Classified email never touches the internet so I'm not worried about sending that through GMail (who would). But encryption would be a nice feature to have for the same reasons PGP is nice to have; digital signatures. Some people (friends, family, coworkers, and hell even Leo Laporte) generally filter out any mail that isn't digitally signed and encrypted.To Google's credit, they at least provide a <a class="user" href="https://">https://</a> version of gmail so that the traffic between you and them is encrypted.
