alleyinsider.com — Dan Frommer describes here how AT&T 3G iPhone users are using much less bandwidth than AT&T expected because AT&T's 3G iPhone service is so crappy. Dan recently got a software update from Apple that improved the 3G service, which suggests that the problem was Apple's problem. But his phone is still slow. So what's with the advertisment below from

That ad was expertly edited. I bet those phones never run anywhere near that fast.

a duck walks past at 1:39? xDyeah well. its only 3G. 2mbps per CELL. that means if you have loads of iPhone users in your area using it at once, the bandwidth will be shared.

That was a terrible example. "when an edit occurs" yeah key phrase. No one thinks it takes you into the mountains in a flash because it was just a new scene in a commercial, and because everyone knows that is unrealistic. In this one it is one scene, talking about the speed of the iphone, and shows the iphone working fast which is very believable. At no time in the commercial does it say "not actual speed." I mean come on, I love apple, but you guys will say anything to defend them. Its a little rediculous.(It would be like an infomercial with a chicken cooking in a microwave. All one scene showing the chicken being cooked with no time lapse. then they pull it out fully done after like 30 seconds. If someone saw that, and it didn't look like a time lapse, then they would obviously think that the microwave could cook things really fast)

My iPhone isn't as fast as they show on the commercial... but way WAY faster than that guys. It really depends on where you are. Out here in the suburbs of Milwaukee... not so fast... when I go to school (UW-Milwaukee).. I have tested my speed at 1Mb/s. Fast.
