I disagree, there is the right number of characters. I have no problem following the different backstories, and you have to realize that the upcoming episodes will have them all coming together. Also we already lost one character (Eden) and will probably lose more.

I'm not a fan of 24 either -- I think there's such a thing as _too_much_ intensity. Twenty-four is like an email! Where the writer uses exclamation points after everything! As if everything were amazing! And maybe at first, it was! But do you really want read this!?Also, it's a very hero-worshippy show (ironically unlike heroes). But a lot of people like it, so, good for everyone.

If this show were on Fox, it wouldn't have made it to the second season. However, the few episodes that were made would be released on to DVD, creating a huge cult following.
