tsn.ca — "Trying to vote the journeyman defenceman on to the Western Conference team for the NHL all-star game has become a trend like reality TV. A spark that began with an Internet website (www.voteforrory.com) has taken hold like wildfire. Fitzpatrick, who has played only 16 games this year after fracturing a bone in his heel, has garnered 144,819."

No, he needs to get to the 'top 2' to gain a starting position. A very prestigious opportunity.

anyone find it funny how hackable that voting site is??? Let me give you a hint, their captcha images are not autogenerated. There are only 50 images with hardcoded words.

So, any hardcore baseball fans heard about what happened before anyone on this board was born? The Reds pulled something like this in I think the 50s. Boom -- All Stars not chosen by the public for something like another decade.

Funny that you mention that... when Seattle fans voted in David Bell at third base back in 2000. Stuffing the ballot box? Hmmm... I think that ties ruin allstar games more than journeyman write-ins do.

I agree, but the whole point of this is so we can start making changes for a better NHL. There are very few things fans can do (short of not going to games period) that can wake up the bigwigs in the league to listen to them. We might have one year where we don't see one of the big names make the team, but maybe it will be just one more thing to help us towards enjoy better seasons.

More importantly, who cares? Their stupid strike pretty much did their league in.
