dreamcast-scene.com — I got a Dreamcast at EB Games for $19.99 and I can't believe how much you can do from it. From developing you own games to playing vcds and divx movies and not to mention the ports like Quake, Doom series, and Quake Simpsons!! If you got a Dreamcast in the closet take it out and you might end up playing it as much as your PS2 and XBOX.

I thought that I read a while back that using regular CDs instead of the Sega GD-ROM media wore out the drive a lot quicker. Is this true? If not, it sounds pretty cool, just because I never had a dreamcast.

I've heard the same about the drive waring out quicker... I think it's because if you listen, the drive moves the lense around a LOT more for a bootleg game, probably due to the way it was cracked/copied originally or something. I bought a DC the day it was released, had it for two years, and it worked great. Eventualy I sold it, but later with the piracy boom, I got another one... it died after 6 months. I've got another, but who knows how long it'll last. Maybe I'll get a couple spares before they're all gone for good.Hey zombielordzero, umm, Sonic Adventure 2 WAS released in the US... didn't get cut out at all. Now stuff like Half-Life that got cut, that was a shame. Good thing I've got my bootleg copy ;)If anyone wants a great source for DC torrents, head over to www.dcforums.co.uk ... I've been going there for over a year.

I remember when Best Buy was selling the Dreamcast for 18 bucks, they were really desperate to get rid of them. I should have grabbed one.

Dreamcast rocks, no doubt about it. But the xbox was and will always be the best hackable console. You don't need a CD to boot it every time, it's always loaded onto the hard drive -- inevitably turning your xbox into a brand new console with all the games pre-loaded onto the hard drive. It's the gift that keeps on giving. The only problem is how hard it is to hack it. It takes about a week of nightly soldering/programming.
