djlyisuc is correct. These guys are far worse than your garden variety penis-enlargement spammers. Aside from defrauding people of billions of dollars a year, there is also the occassional kidnap/murder of victims. And more frequently than kidnap/murder, victims are fooled into cashing fake checks and forwarding the money. Some victims have gone to jail over this. This is an easy and safe way to help fight back.

Topic is inaccurate really, we don't target spam, we target 419 advance fraud which uses the form of fake banks, couriers and lotteries to get innocent people to part with their hard earned money. LadVampire is a good idea, although we find that contacting and educating hosters of the sites often bring fake sites down faster. Instead of sticking it on LadVampire and annoying the hosters. LV/MM is a last resort when all else has failed.Evil-DragonAA419.org

Becareful! We cannot be held responsible for you running LadVampire/Mugu Marauder at school, colleges and places of work. Doing so will either get you suspended, expelled or sacked for misuse of computers. If you chose to do this and you get in trouble, then you must face the consequences.

This can be used to test your download bandwidth. Open several browser instances to this page, use something like Task Manager or Performance Monitor to see the result.

one problem, most spammers just use botnets for that, so you're not really affecting the spammer.

Most big-time spammers do NOT use bot-nets... the overhead in obtaining and maintaining a large pool of trojaned machines is simply too high, especially now that operating systems are being locked down by their developers (reference MS's monthly Malicious Software Removal Tool and their attempts at securing WinXP).The big-time spammers have no NEED to use botnets... it's easier, cheaper and more effective to get dedicated servers at spam-friendly hosts in Korea, China, Russia, Brazil, Poland, etc.And draining from their sites IS effective... running up their hosting costs has put an almost immediate stop to two attempted joe-jobs against our domain and has dropped our spam receival rate to very low levels. If everyone ran a Vampire against the spammers trespassing upon their Inboxes, spamming would cease to exist. Imagine if every person took only 1 GB of data per spam received. Assuming data costs of 50 cents per GB... that means that the spammer is now spending 50 cents to market to that person via email... it's cheaper to do it via snail mail.Widespread adoption of this technique is what we should be pushing for... it can and will end spam as we know it, but only when widespread adoption becomes reality.

Actually, I am an artist at aa419, and so far NO fraudulent site has resisted our bandwith leeching, as it is very very expensive to pay for the amounts we leech, maxing at even 1 gig a minuite. Now that is very expensive, and only in the realms of large companys to pay for. Also, I believe we have leeched well over 50 Terabytes.
