yay! When I'm finally in the market for a new computer, I'll go with a Dell again, and have Ubuntu set up on it. So far all the Dell computers I've had over the years have been great. Never needed customer service on any of them, I do my own troubleshooting. :)
Just curious -- is the sky blue in your world?Spare me your "oh it's just so easy" bulls**t -- what if you're on 64-bit Ubuntu? Then what, smart guy? Oh you have to now go install a 32-bit browser to get Flash working...oh that's just sooooo easy, right? How about dual monitors? The infamous (and STILL jacked up in Heron) WiFi?Yes, installations are simple -- yay for a 10% solution -- but all the terminal "sudo" garbage makes me want to douche my dick with razorblades.
I could have gotten that XPS with ubuntu for almost the same price as I got my inspiron with vista :( (running ubuntu now anyway).Maybe next time though :D
Better yet: Run Windows in VirtualBox.Virtual workspaces will allow you to keep Windows "full screen" on a separate screen, and you get the application support of Windows combined with the security features of UNIX.

I installed everything I needed by going to Applications>Add/Remove and choose all the restricted formats.

The 14" 7.10 model offered 1440x900 as an option. However, the 14" appears to have been discontinued with Dell's release of 8.04.
