I was thinking it should be "Le Voyage Dans La Lune" until I found an even earlier one. an Edison film by James Stuart Blackton called "The Enchanted Drawing". its great little animation and I find it even more fascinating that he is interacting with the animation too!! you can find this animation on youtube!
