abcnews.go.com — Even if Barry Bonds is poised to break the home run record right there in Atlanta, Hank Aaron is not going. Period. "I will never reconsider my decision," Aaron told The Associated Press in a telephone interview Tuesday from his adopted hometown.

I stand by that quote. When Bonds passes Hank Aaron it'll be tainted.

Baseball is the only sport where there is even discussion that the use of ILLEGAL drugs is acceptable. "It's illegal! oh, but the league hasn't banned it yet..."

@thecaptainjs - Bonds is not an assh**e. He has been screwed by media one too many times and doesn't talk to them much anymore. That isn't being an assh**e; that is being logical.

Buried as inaccurate. What do you expect? No one knows when Bonds will hit that final home run, so do you expect Hank Aaron to go chasing him around? If people actually read the article, they'd find this:"I traveled for 23 years, and I just get tired of traveling. I'm not going to fly to go see somebody hit a home run, no matter whether it is Barry or Babe Ruth or Lou Gehrig or whoever it may be."Now you can go injecting your own bias into his words, but there it is in print. If he had something against Bonds, why wouldn't he be totally clear about it? Also, Bond's has never tested positive for steroid use. Accusing a man with no evidence is pretty low.

I just can't see what the big deal is about Bonds or any other athlete taking steroids. If they want to take the health risk, then go ahead. And if team owners want to pay them more money because they're breaking records, then that's their decision. If clean athletes don't want to risk taking steroids, then they can go make a living doing something else. There are many sports medicine advancements that have been made since Hank Aaron played. Should players who take advantage of those advancements be looked down upon, too? However, clearly the fans don't like juiced athletes. The pro sports leagues would be wise to crack down on steroids and the like or risk losing fans.

READ THIS WHOLE POST from someone who knew Barry when he was young and a HUGE Giants fan:I graduated from the same high school as Barry (one class behind), and played with Barry and his little brother Ricky — as well as Tito Fuentes' kids — when I was young and in Little League in Foster City, CA. But I am not bias on the subject. It should be pointed out that Barry has never tested positive for banned substances. EVER. The allegations are just that: allegations. I am sure that Barry has undergone more random drug testing by the League than any other player in history. So why has there been no proof? Will Barry admit to cheating? Pipe dream. Do you remember Pete Rose? Even when Pete admitted to gambling years later to try to get in the Hall of Fame, baseball and sports writers shunned him. Barry's personality is worse than Pete's! Barry has allowed his friend to rot in jail, while he continues to play ball, spit sunflower seeds and spit on baseball. For whatever reason, MLB thinks they need Barry, as bad as the steroids situation is right now. On the other hand, once Barry has broken the record and is no longer playing baseball, his life will be very sad indeed. When people think or speak of Willie Mays or Willie McCovey, they have fond memories of them, and they have become icons for the SF Giants franchise. Barry Bonds will be honored in SF at AT&T park, most likely with the usual retiring of jersey, unveiling of statue and celebration of his achievements with a retirement event. But Barry will not be fondly remembered by Giants fans. He has left a stain on the franchise and on Major League baseball. But I believe the Giants management will do all of this swiftly, and wash their hands of him after that. One thing nobody can take away from Barry Bonds is that he probably is the most talented player to ever play the game. He is one of the best left fielders (8 gold glove awards), 7-time MVP of the League, 73 home runs in one season (record: 2001), 745 homers to date, with on base and slugging percentages off the charts. Steroids do not help him swing the bat or play defense. The steroids assisted with recovery over a period of a few years prior to his 73 home run season. For his abilities he will get in the Hall of Fame, but not first ballot. In 2020 we will probably see Barry on a Where Are They Now segment, and the rest of his life will be one of solitude and loneliness.posted to my word press | rasterbator at wordpress dot com

Are you kidding? "don't we all agree that to go through life from now until the day you die as Barry Bonds would be hell on earth?" Barry Bond's worst day is better than my best day, that dude is set for life. Sure, he'll always have that steroid controversy surrounding him, but do you know how much money that guy has? He's rich, has a good family, still has alot of friends and supporters, lives in a mansion, will be remembered long after all of us are gone, I mean come on. I'd kill to have his life. But I agree with the rest of your comment.

Hank Aaron is absolutely right. If I was Selig, I would make sure that there are three ***'s next to bond's home run count. It is an open secret that he took body building or "whatever they call it" drugs to enhance his performance. Giambi is an idiot, he is just trying to hide is bad performance by trying to build up a storm. His days as an overpaid yankee are numbered.
