How do you figure? I have a Dell that cost me about $600 that does more than the ACD. The only thing it doesn't do is charge my MBP, but that would be stupid to expect from any monitor.

Apple is the sole designer and manufacturer of the Mini DisplayPort connector in the same way they created the mini-dvi and micro-dvi connectors. There is no specification in the DisplayPort standard for a smaller "mini" connector, that was all Apple's invention.None of this changes the fact that @missingdigits is correct. Only the computers that can connect to this display are the new notebooks.
