I'm willing to bet they dont. What about MS being the largest Software Company in the world would imply they wouldnt know how to anticipate and handle such an event? These people plan software launches for a living. Operate MSN - the 2nd highest trafficed Website on the Interweb. XBox Live is excellently implemented. If *ANYONE* can handle the launch traffic, its MS.
Why would the servers die? Microsoft already knows how many people have the beta, since they are the ones who let people in. I'm pretty sure they have already prepared for how many people are going to be on the game.
I doubt this counts as reliable but I think I recall from Microsoft's annual trade show, that the press conference revealed that the Halo 2 maps and the Halo 3 beta would be release simultaneously, the maps are set for an April 17th release, if my memories serve me correctly then that means a very short wait indeed for the beta. Let's hope that I was right.
"So yeah. Big changes coming. Big changes and big news. Next week is going to be significant." --------> Bungie Weekly Update (4/6/2007) It's the 9th now... I sure hope this month holds more than the Desolation and Tombstone maps in Halo 2 (still pretty freakin' sweet)!!!
