truthout.org — The Peasant Movement of Papay called the news that Monsanto will be donating 60,000 seed sacks (475 tons) of hybrid corn seeds and vegetable seeds a "new earthquake". The MPP has committed to burning Monsanto's seeds, and has called for a march to protest the corporation's presence in Haiti on June 4, for World Environment Day.

Monsato's aim is to hijack the foodchain and get the entire planet to pay them royalties on it and they're doing this with total disregard of the environmental impacts.Their whole busines model is about privatising the food chain. Although their marketing will profess otherwise, they produce alternatives to natural crops, not to improve yields, nutritional value, disease and pest resistance, but to replace a natural crop with a crop patented by them. There is little or no testing done on the health effects their products. There is a lot of anecdotal evidence that GM crops have been associated with inferitility of animals who have been raised on GM feed.Monsato is an extremely dangerous organization, and in the future will be looked as a prime example of why/how free market economies failed.

Companies like Monsanto feed on people like you. Your ignorance is their invitation to take total advantage of you without you ever even knowing it until its too late.

Haiti enforces US patents? Got any evidence to back that up? I spent some time looking and couldn't find anything about Haiti having any patents. I mean, what's the worst Monsanto could do? Not sell stuff there anymore? Sounds like most of you people would love that.

Would love to see North American farmers unite and stage a similar protest!

I don't think that's what intellectual property laws imply
tsuruchibrianMay 24, 2010
The fact that it is called "intellectual PROPERTY" implies ownership.

OMG, gordigor, that is all you got out of this whole article.... I don't think he meant that we HAVE TO help them, what they are saying is that if we want to help, they need us to do it in a better way, that will help them more in the long run, not just right now.
