Yeah, the Iraqi war is messed up, but we need to keep going. I mean, what will happen if we just stop? We may save a few of our troops but Iraq will completely cave in, farther than it has. War is just that, war, and you can't just back out, you have to keep going until you win, and if you fail, well, you fail, big time. Think for a few minutes about what would happen if we just up and backed out of everything, Iraq and the middle east would be in some serious trouble (that's big news). I know I sound like an idiot, but I think even though this war has been butchered beyond recognition, we need to finish it, and not leave the people of Iraq hanging.
The problem is that what will happen will happen and that's the way it is. We do not have nearly enough troops over there to stop these zealots from killing each other, and even if we did it wouldn't be worth the cost to us. I really just don't care that much for Iraqis one way or the other. The ship is sinking, just because we're the ones who put the hole in the side of it doesn't mean that we should go down with it. We really need to get out of the business of building nations and get back into the business of fixing ours. The only reasons to stay over there now are political. On this video: can't watch it, currently on the net in public with no speakers, but I like what I'm reading in the transcript. We are merely there to prolong the engagement. Whether we leave now or later they will be killing each other for a long time. It's what they do, they're good at it. Wasn't the entire idea of invading Iraq to get them before they get us. Well, how about getting the hell out so they can get each other more easily and forget about us.
The only way the current situation will turn into a "Vietnam" is if we tuck our tales between our legs and run. Just as we did in Vietnam. A lose in Iraq and a retreat at that is a very bad idea. I'm not sure what the best solution to the problem would be but I sure haven't heard any ideas from the dems besides cut'n and runnin. Surely there is a better solution to the problem.
@revisrevHow on earth can you say that ? Your lot (with help from mine) f**ked up an entire country. We are responsible for the deaths of tens of thousands of innocent people. By extension, we are responsible for the creation of thousands of insurgents and future terrorists (ask any kid currently sleeping in daddy's intestines what he thinks of his liberators and you may be shocked to find he doesn't show the joy and thanks you expect!). And you think it's cool for us to just wander off now that we have realised we can't fix what we broke?Like the sign in the shop says, 'You broke it, you bought it'. We stuffed this place up and whatever happens there for at least the next 10 years is our responsibility. It's like when you feed a lost cat - at that point you become responsible for it.
