blog.fastcompany.com — No, it's not enough that you can hack your iPhone to operate on the T-Mobile network, or launch third-party applications, or play games. No, someone had to go and demonstrate how you can -- quite easily, with some know-how -- turn an iPhone, or any smartphone, into a full-blown spy gadget.

That's pretty scary! Privacy doesn't exist anymore...

T-Mobile didn't merge with Sprint. They're two different network technologies. For what it's worth, I've never had a single problem with any network carrier I've ever had (I've had all the major ones but Sprint.)

I'm no fan of the iPhone but this video is does nothing but show how a user can hack into their own iphone and add apps or copy files back and forth. If he were to show this being done to a stranger's iphone over a wifi connection I might be worried. All he did was plug his iphone into his mac and demonstrate the SSH and file copy capabilities. You'd think a technology related magazine would have enough sense than to post this crap. I saw a similar video from a guy claiming to hack a citrix server awhile back.Hacking is NOT the process of setting up your own systems in such a way as to eliminate all security controls then do some fancy command line stuff like you see in the movies.

It should be noted that this spying won't work if the owner of the iphone simply updates to the newest firmware. Security holes exist all the time. This one's been closed already.

I think the fact that you can hack it to do whatever you want is perfect.
