All news is old to someone. I think the policy should be based loosely on reporting story's and like if what deadpixel said is true. If the news has already been proven outdated, then it should be removed, if it has more reports that diggs, remove it. This site has gotten away from what it was supposed to be going towards, and that putting the tech news in our control...well, although it is based on reader submissions, there is no control the other way, and that it letting the masses vote a story off the homepage if it truly does not deserve to be there. Like posting a story about the release of Windows ME would be by all standards, old and redundant.
I 'hacked' my router a while back and I really found it more troublesome than the basic firmware. Not only did I have port forwarding issues, but the firmware I used (Freeman) reset the router every time I changed anything, including simple things such as date and time. I really just need it to have wireless and a decent hardware firewall.... anything more is just fluff, really....

I use DDWRT. It is an a free alternative to sveasoft that does not violate the GPL and is free. Here is more info:<a class="user" href="http://www.linksysinfo.org/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=27">http://www.linksysinfo.org/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=27</a><a class="user" href="http://slashdot.org/~TheIndividual/journal/">http://slashdot.org/~TheIndividual/journal/</a>

<a class="user" href="http://openwrt.org/">http://openwrt.org/</a> openWRT is pretty good too and it works on some Netgear models too.
