surfbits.com — The Griffin iTrip is great but has a very short range before the signal starts breaking up. In most cases, moving the iPod to the backseat or even the passenger side will cause static and fading in the sound. Here?s how to increase the range to almost 60 feet.

Did this last night with cat5 copper wiring.. stinking had to strip the cat5 insulation off which took the longest but i followed his directions and it works as prescribed. There is a bit more high and low fidelity and it was worth it... WARNING though, it will tear up the case a bit to get into it... watch your fingers as well, now using a band-aid cause i wasn't carful enough with the blade.worth the hack, i was looking at getting a differnt FM transmitter but i think i have saved myself some $$.+digg

I just opened my itrip, saw the antenna wire but it's not a copper antenna. It's actually coated, so i stripped it...underneath was a bunch of smaller silver like wires wound together...i tried the copper wrapping idea...if anythign made it worse. Anyone have an idea of what i should do?Thanks, stealthp.s. please e-mail me, id greatly appreciate itstealthredneck@gmail.com

I bought a different model iTrip and it works like crap . it is this model: http://www.buy.com/prod/griffin-itrip-fm-transmitter-and-auto-charger-12v-dc-automobile/q/loc/111/202189895.htmlI busted it open, here are some pictures I hosted:http://johnpezzetti.com/content/itrip_low1.jpghttp://johnpezzetti.com/content/itrip_low2.jpgThe antenna appears to be the blue wire, it runs up the cable heading to the stereo jack and the cable to the power source but doesnt plug into anythign at either end. I accidentally severd it at one end, but thats nothing a little soldering cant fix.Ive tried alligator clipping like 10 feet of copper cable onto these antenna connectors and there is no noticable difference.Does anyone have any advice on how I might make this bad boy perform better?
