it.iitb.ac.in— Ever wanted to gain Administrator access, on a XP machine with ease. This guide will show you how to do it. Assuming you have the brains to use either the Command Prompt, or the registry.

btw when you edit the registry instead of wasting your time restarting you can just go into task manager and shutdown the explorer.exe process and then run it again with file>new task in task manager.
Start > Control Panel > User Accounts > Turn Off Guest AccessThat is the first thing you should do, if it isn't already done, on a new Windows machine.
@IbnDigg:Sorry, but being a comp sci grad (or an electrical engineer, or a PhD, or a best programmer in the world... ) doesn't automatically make you a good system administrator.
takeda, proof that a little hacking can prove the powers at be that you know what is going on. Just be careful, because if for some reason something, because if a computer becomes compromised they are probably going to look at you first.
Can't boot off a Live CD, no USB boot, no floppy? Check outhttp://sourceforge.net/projects/grub4dosI had a tablet with no drive and couldn't get it to boot, so I did the grub4dos with the linux kernel for Fedora Core 5 install CD, added 'text askmethod' to the boot line, and it fixed all my XP problems :)This involves modifying the boot.ini file, which I suspect is restricted access, but I don't know since it worked for me.
What if at your school they are running Windows 2000 server How Would you get through that and the operating system u logon to is win xp pro let me no how to do it plz asap
ok. i need major help. i tried that whole thing...this thing:cd cdwindowssystem32mkdir temphack copy logon.scr temphacklogon.scr copy cmd.exe temphackcmd.exe del logon.scr rename cmd.exe logon.scr exit ...and it screwed up my computer/ first off, it doesn't work because you have to have unlimited access to do the whole 'mkdir temphack' thing. second, after i finally gave up on getting it to work, a big problemo popped up. everytime I turn on the computer, it doesn't boot up properly. it goes to a blank, black screen, with the line flashing at the top right corner. i'm no computer wiz, but i know that's not how its suppose to work. after hitting F12 and F2 a million times, it finally boots up, but there's definitely something wrong with it. since i got the whole damn thing from here, i figured you could help me out. it really would be the nice thing to do, since if it doesn't get fixed soon, i'm deadmeat. :) i'd really appreciate the help. in the link, it said to copy the temphack files back, but it didn't tell how to do that, and i'm not smart enough to figureit out, sooo....HELP!
Look, I am computer illiterate. I just need the proper steps. All I'm really trying to do is get Yahoo messenger 10.0 to work properly on my account. I have uninstalled and reinstalled from my mom's account (admin) about 5 times all ready and each time I'll go back into my account and messenger will not work siting that there are some connection problems and that I need to go into Internet Explorer to fix them. However, IE has ceased operating from my account and only wants to work from my mom's account. It'd take too long to explain why I need to go behind her back to do all of this, but let's just say quite frankly that she's a bitch. All I need to do is get into her account so I can uninstall IE, but when I do that it wants me to restart the computer which means I need her password to get back into her account. I can't download IE from my account because I need Admin permission. YES, IT'S ALL FOR YAHOO MESSENGER 10.0!! Hardly seems like a worthy cause, I know, but you'd have to understand my situation to be able to empathize. Now that I've blabbed, here's the problem. C:\users\christopher>cd\C:\>cd\windows\system32C:\windows\system32>mkdir temphackaccess is denied.C:\windows\system32>That's what I get. What's the deal? Why isn't this working for me. Oh yeah, BTW, I'm using your standard Windows XP. HELP ME!! I'M IN A CONUNDRUM!!
A Windows password reset bootable disk could do all the job for you, it can reset your lost or forgotten Windows password safely and quickly without login, you can create a Windows password reset bootable disk with the tool Windows Password Breaker http://www.recoverwindowspassword.com/ , then use it to reset your password.

To lock your computer, instead of creating a shortcut as described in the article, you can also simply click window key + L.
