Because it adds to the cost and complexity without providing much of an advantage.As for "default storage", I haven't seen a single phone with an SD slot that didn't already come with a decent-sized SD card.

Uh...riiiight. The 2 best US carriers are CDMA. Anyway, it's all about the cost. Once a GSM provider offers me unlimited 3G for $15/month I will consider switching. Until then, it's CDMA with unlimited EVDO.
