wiki.ehow.com— Many of the navigation features are grayed out while the Toyota Prius is moving. This hack enables full use of the navigation system while driving. Use at your own risk.

The hack works on the newer Priuses and Lexuses, but I've also got an old Prius, first year edition. Does anyone have a similar hack to allow driving and use of the nav system for prior version of the software?
I was trying to use an earlier Nav Hack for an 04 Lexus LS430, which doesn't work anymore because the firmware was upgraded during a dealer service (firmware was upgraded from 3.1 to 3.2). I successfully used the Prius Hack on the Lexus after the upgrade. So, it stands to reason that perhaps the old Lexus Hack will work on your older Prius? The hack is actually a service override feature. Here it is:1)go into the one of the menu screens that has the DVD button on the top right corner. Press this, and this will give you the version of your DVD Nav. Then press the following (i know there aren't buttons, and you won't hear or see any feedback, but just do it) -- you may also notice some similarity between this hack and the new one, which is why I tried the Prius hack in the first place.:1) press the top left screen (corner)2)press the bottom left screen (corner)3)press the top left screen (corner)4)press the bottom left screen (corner)5) press the bottom RIGHT screen (corner) - this step is not required on the new hack, but is necessary for this one. This will bring you to the "Secret" menu. Press and hold OVERRIDE and then you're set. You have to do this everytime you restart the car. Wouldn't recommended doing this while you are driving, but a passenger should be able to utilize the navigation, while the car is in motion.
