Unfortunately there is a lot of horse s**t snake oil associated with Binaural Beats, bunch of New Age conmen trying to make money off it with ridiculous claims but there is a real effect if you use sliding down frequencies, say 12 hz to 6 hz over 15 minutes with you closing your eyes and focusing on the wavering 'beat sound' you get.

I think you might be interested in this introductory video to binaural beats, what they are, how you can produce them, and how you can use them for learning, memorizing or relaxation. The video actually is a guided tour with audio experiements.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QCfUbFjin00And this is a video with binaural beats at the Alpha and Delta range, very relaxing background music and sync-visuals. Watch it when you feel stressed and you'll feel refreshed and calm.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAOd6UZo7mU
