Hey, this actually worked for me. I do believe the Title should be changed though. I have a Uber Crappy DSL provider (Execulink Telecom in Ontario, Canada), so doing this worked better than the previous DNS settings.

This sort of fiddling with DNS setting will probably both make most peoples DNS responses slower, and less reliable.I doubt it will save 4ms... When the result is in the Open DNS cache, and a lot of the time the answer will be, they will be potentially a lot quicker (maybe 100ms quicker). But they are further away, and even in the small amount of testing I did after reading the article on one occasion the response from OpenDNS was over 2 seconds for one query (none of my local tests exceeded a twentieth of that period. Most ISP servers will have smaller cache, but give a more consistent response time.People who need faster name resolution (mainly people with email servers, or web proxy servers) should set up a local recursive name server - but because of the browser caching of DNS names (except when proxies are used!) this is almost totally pointless for web browsing.Further the OpenDNS habit of giving incorrect positive answers when the answer in "non-such" if you use there servers for any service that relies on negative responses from the DNS, it'll break till you disable that part of the service. Typically this is done in spam filtering software, so could well break some end user spam filtering tools.Disabling negative caching is a really bad idea. The people who designed DNS, put in negative caching, and avoiding down/broken servers, for very good reasons, both for performance, and scalability. The most useful "tweak" that you can make to the DNS settings is to make Unix/Linux boxes switch faster when their primary DNS server is unresponsive, but Microsoft already did that in Windows.
