taxcut.com — As part of a promotion, H&R Block recently mailed free copies of TaxCut tax preparation software. The company inadvertently included some personal information in the mailing label. Embedded within the more than 40-character source code were the nine digits of the recipient's Social Security Number (SSN).

Dugg since some still have the mailer (see comments above.)H&R says, "If you threw the wrapper away, it is now in your local landfill with literally tons of other holiday season discards, so it's unlikely that someone would find it or recognize the discarded wrapper as being significant in any way."Now that this is public knowledge, H&R should be telling users to shred.

I got my letter from H&R block today, checked the CD, and sure enough, there was my social security number. Dumb bastards.
