if I want a machine gun or a howitzer it is my right, "shall not be infringed". ANY weapon isnt an assault weapon unless it is actually used in an assault. if I want a shotgun with a 10" barrel to make the bloodiest mess possible out of an unwelcome intruder in my home, I have that right.when the government gives up their assault weapons, maybe we can consider giving up ours.
http://www.change.gov/agenda/urbanpolicy/Address Gun Violence in Cities: As president, Barack Obama would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals who shouldn't have them. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent, as such weapons belong on foreign battlefields and not on our streets.
"Remember NATO troops use the .223 and .308 rounds and 50 bmg" I doubt it would be NATO troops we would be facing. Too much risk that the Europeans might have some sympathy and switch sides. It happened once with the Hessian mercenaries, who switched sides and gave General Washington's army some much needed training. In fact the city of Steubenville, Ohio is named in honor of Baron Von Steuben, a Hessian officer who switched sides, and became a hero of the American Revolution. Most likely the request would be that the UN send a few hundred thousand Red Chinese "peace keepers" most likely the ideologically reliable Red Guard, rather than PRA soldiers. and, who would be utterly ruthless
Barack HUSSEIN Obama is on record as saying that as far as 2nd Amendment rights goes, an American's ability to exercise them shoud be dependent on where that American lives. He made a statemrnt to the effect that what works in Wyoming, may not be appropriate in New York. I don't know what Constitution he read, but I thought that a RIGHT was just that, and it exists everywhere the same. Could you imagine them media outcry if in talking about Civil Rights, the other candidate would have said someting like "the level of integration that works in NYC may not be appropriate in Alabama".
