Simple way to terraform mars:simply regulate pollution on earth to the point where its more profitable for highly polluting industries to set up shop on mars, plus I'm sure you could add some tax incentives.
"that's weird, i was just expressing surprise to water being on mars and 22 people thought me worthy to digg down? WEIRD PRIORITIES, PEOPLE" - spidomanI didn't digg you down but, I thought about it. The reason being your title, "There is water on Mars - flowing water!" That's not what's being said by NASA, "These observations give the strongest evidence to date that water still flows occasionally on the surface of Mars," A more appropriate title would have been "strongest evidence to date that water still flows occasionally on the surface of Mars" The issue of flowing water is has not been conclusively settled. Skepticism is paramount in good science. Take care in making assertions on a topic as important as this. The story is certainly newsworthy but it lacks the certainty that you attribute to it. Call me a stickler.
Yes they tend to make it sound like they assume all dirt is composed the same on Mars. 'The dirt is lighter here but dirt is dark over there so this must be water.' I understand why they would be overzealous but let's wait until we actually get down there and take a sample.
Richard Hoagland is a well-known crank and conspiracy theorist whose claimed that the "face" on Mars was built by aliens. Turns out that early fuzzy photos created an illusion of light and shadow, and subsequent high-rez orbital photos show that the "Face" is nothing of the kind.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_C._HoaglandEven a stopped watch is right twice a day - but that doesn't make a stopped watch a useful timepiece. Hoagland is a phony who puffs up his resume and uses pseud-scientific terminology to dupe the uninformed and gullible.
