I'd say that the reason why F/OSS games are crap is because these projects lack good artists. They don't particularly lack good software developers, as the engines look pretty good in many cases, but the graphics and sounds are lacking.
Actually, I'm going to sound stupid for this, but I used to play the game over and over again when I was a kid alone. Yes, me, alone vs. that goddamned triad in that kill the triad mode. Watching the drunk missiles was just too much fun. You may now return to your regularly scheduled programming.
Before a troll starts with "OMFG U NEED TO DO ALL THIS TO RUN A DRIVERS LINUXES SUX!!!!11one", I'll say that most distros already come with most of those drivers (at least those that someone might use) already compiled and ready to be used. The OS will only load those that are needed by your system. You don't need to compile anything to run Linux on most common hardware. To get a list of available drivers, you can do:ls -R /lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/
Yeah... I mean, the Transgaming / Cedega project is gathering quite a bit of steam (they have a TON of well supported games), but for the time being, sneaking back to Windows seems to be a pretty good option. Then again, it depends on what you want to play...

Would be better if they actually said the license and not just "free".

Talking without thinking is like shooting without taking aim.
