It's 2009 and we still don't have a single smart phone that can display Flash webpages efficiently? I had high hopes for the Hero but am disappointed again.

Is that real continuous processing background apps or just some sort of "give it a few CPU cycles every now and again" background processing. Could you run a radio app in the background?

HTC's mini-USB actually is a proprietary connector that is backwards compatible with normal USB. It has a lot more pins and they have a headphone jack adapter that plugs into the USB port, some phones have working video out that plugs into that same mini USB. So... it's proprietary - they just do it in a way that doesn't make them as big of assh**es.
