You could always install KDE on Ubuntu you know... Ubuntu+KDE != Kubuntu.

Well it's only in Australia for now. No immediate impact in the states, I think.

Wow, really? O.oI have an HP laptop and Ubuntu, SUSE and Xandros all worked fine on it. I want to say I have a 250N but I'm not sure if that's correct or not.

Few of them would have the resources and expertise to truly pull it off. Unless their special version was little more than custom artwork and a few applets to tie into their customised hardware.
