forums.somethingawful.com— With so many people breaking their iPhone screens. It is a good time for a guide to show us all how to fix it without spending an additional $250. All you need is a couple hours and $5.

Oh, so you are that douche. Thanks for making the rest of us suffer through unnecessary safety precautions so you can get a few quick bucks or a shiny screen. PS - Coffee is hot. Don't dip your junk in it.
He didn't exactly take a very clear picture of the finished project. I'm sure if he did, you'd see how crappy it looks.Coloring the plastic with a Sharpee??? Ugh. You might as well rip off the entire LCD panel and draw a home screen in crayon.
My brother dropped his phone less than 2 feet from the ground, and the screen shattered. Highly unfortunate. He's 16 and spent his entire paycheck on this phone, and now it has a broken screen. We have an appointment with the people at the Apple store tomorrow morning, hopefully they'll give us a new one. I wonder if some units have screens more brittle than others.
Really? That's a pretty cool trick, considering the insurance is sold through the provider, and AT&T will not offer it on the iPhone. Try Assurion's website. It can't be bought direct.
What about just removing the glass and installing a screen protector directly on top of the digitizer (or whatever it's called)?Advantage is the screen protector is custom fit and clear.

How did you get Tmobile to cover a phone that they don't carry? IF they do that, I might actually switch carriers...

After reading this, I decided to try it myself. I replaced my screen with one of the glass ones offered on ebay. My post also includes some tips that weren't mentioned in this post. http://www.hitchsource.com/blog/2008/06/fixing-the ...

There are actually a number of different patented 'transparent aluminum' processes out there, some more aluminum than others.

The article is dead now without paying I guess to have access to archives? How lame. Buried as expired.
