"Though CorelDraw is easy, Illustrator is by far superior if you just take a little bit more time to learn it."More people use illustrator, but it is not far superior. Corel can anything illustrator can do. In fact it can do several thing illustrator can't..like multiple page layouts, control of indvidual font letters without having to convert to curves, ect..Coreldraw is a highly underrated program.
CorelDraw is awesome. You can do some extremely complex things with it. I've yet to try out Illustrator though... maybe I should write a review about my experience and post it to digg. :-PHere is a one of the vectors I did. It's got about skyscrapers, cars, people, etc though it is kind of cheesy. http://www.laazy.com/pictures/city.cdr/
"For starters, this -is- vector art."Do some research, you can not make a vector out of a raster image! In my job, I deal with vectors all the time, when I worked full time as a graphic designer for a sign shop, thats all we used, people like you would send me a raster image saved as an eps and call it a vector, this is totally wrong! If you do your research, you will see that a vector is a series of primatives derived from mathematical equations that represent the image. Your dealing with points and arcs, NOT pixels.Simple test, if you can use the eraser tool on it, it is NOT a vector.Or and for those of you willing to learn, you CAN create a vector out of a rastor, it just takes MANY hours of work, corel and flexi have a trace tool that works wonders and you can end up doing some really cool stuff with that.
I sooooo know your problem pondster. I've had it often as well, Here... plot this....Yay for that nice .jpg...Most of the times it was of too low quality to be able to use the trace tool decently, so most of the time it's just drawing lines with vector for hours and hours.
:( ah i should have submitted this myself :( After all i did post the intructable.. :(and all of ya bitching about the vector bit- he didn't have illustrator on him when he was doing the Tut. :P I'm sure you could figure out how to do it yourselves :)

Completely unrelated to vector art, but check out http://www.pixelfreak.com/tutorial/ for a good guide on doing some pixel art in MS Paint.

Adding to the negatives. Doing "vector" art in Photoshop is retarded.

f**kin' idiot. Anyone working *real* vector illustration in Flash is hopeless. That's not what Flash is for.
