It sucked because it was so short. I am running it on an athlon 2400+ 1024MB of Ram, and a Radeon 9600XT 256MB AGP card and I'm pulling a steady 40 FPS at 1600x1200 with EVERYTHING MAXED and HDR lighting set to full. "you need a 6800GT to play" yeah my ass needs golden toilet paper too.
Looked pretty, particularly the water effects and character facial animation. The tufts of grass were all the same and looked kind of crappy, and I swear I kept seeing the same rock over and over again, but for what it is and what it cost, it is very cool indeed and worth the time to download. +digg
ok. so wtf is this? when did it become a tech demo and not an xpac? why all the hype for a long overdue (think about how long it took to make source) graphics bump?
Lost Coast owned, better lighting graphics than Doom3. Doom3 is made-up sci-fi textures and uses alot of contrasting, over-exaggerated lighting differences. This may look nice but imitating real-life is much harder to do and can attract more criticisms, which is what the HL2 engine is revolving around mostly, and i think they did a great jobwell done guys thumbs up
1St question how the hell did that guy get it running with everything on high at 1600 by 1200 at 40fps with a 9600xt. I've got a 7800GTX and a better processors and better RAM and mine hits 30fps as a minimum. And 2nd, this was a great test for my graphics card but man what were valve thinking, come on at least let us play with it in Hammer.

Valves motto should be, too little, too late.
