this begs the question, why the f**k wasnt the link to the patent and horrible drawings included w/the article. thanks for doing some digging that the author should have done...
Mod up the above link - the patent application is interesting reading - makes it sound a lot more feasible - lots more detail. The site itself looks pretty dodgy though - the stuff on the 'Joe cell' being a prime example - talk about bogus science! Gave me a laugh anyway.
Good point. Has anybody looked over the patent itself to determine what it's all about? That would probably be a lot more specific on the details than this article.
The law is efficency = 1 - Tc/Th (in Kelvin). There are two ways to get close to 100% efficiency. One is to get the cold resevior very close to absolute zero, the other is to get the hot reservior very, very hot.
Its ashame that his sons had to make him waste 8 years on an invention that the Oil industry will never allow anyone to be build. Just think! If he would have continued work on his anti-gravity machine we wouldn't be talking about antiquated combustion engines. We would be floating around space in our time machines.

@drakaan The "Bourke Engine" seems to be more like an opposing engine layout like a Boxter engine.
