I have been to the Muthanna Chemical Weapons Complex several times and spent a night inside of it, my company searched that entire place, this was the summer of 2007, I did not know much about it and they never told us anything about it other than it was safe and they would not have sent us in there if it was not safe blah blah blah, The NBC Expert that came with us on the operation told us some story that 2 UN weapons inspectors had gotten sick while roaming around it a few years back( this was after we were inside of it) but he said it was ok if we stay away from certain areas. The higher up's that did the planning for this probably knew all about it but of course they would not tell us, after the deployment we do what is called a post deployment medical assessment, it's where we document anything we were exposed to or medical conditions that we may have gotten during the deployment and they told us to write down that we did an operation inside of that place, so at least I have it documented in my medical records that i have been inside and exposed to that place. If i was exposed to anything only time will tell because the government surely won't.
I originally posted this digg story the day Matt Died http://digg.com/world_news/Matthew_Bumpus_just_die ...and several thousand diggers were kind enough to digg it and many spread this story into other social networks, blogs, etcA few days later Matt had a very touching funeral and it was a strong turnout and show of support not only from family and others, but many in law enforcement as well. One thing everyone seemed to agree on that I spoke too was there was some serious governmental coverup hanky b.s. going on in this case. Thanks to the diggers and many others for spreading this tragic story not only for Matt and his family's sake but for the sake of the silent masses of other soldiers and others out there right now that may be suffering and not know what happened or are afraid to tell. I strongly believe digg helped ratchet up the pressure on the VA and also helped get more political figures involved simply by adding to the sheer volume of posts now circulating the internet siting Matt's case. He did not die in vain. You gave hope to the family where there was none before. I saw it first hand. They were extremely grateful. It gave them strength in the hardest of times. Burying a child before your own time has come is the hardest of all.
